Are you ready to start a career in the manufacturing industry? Our fast-track CNC program will prepare you for an exciting career as a CNC machine operator. Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machines are used in nearly every industry to make parts and complete precision tasks. From medical and aerospace to woodworking and metal fabrication, CNC machine operators play a critical role in today’s manufacturing facilities.

The CNC course at Erie 1 BOCES is designed to give you the skills you need to start a career as a CNC operator. You will learn how to set up and run CNC mills and lathes using both state-of-the-art computer simulators and actual machines. In addition to working with CNC equipment, students have the opportunity to learn precision machining and measuring techniques using manual machining equipment. Through hands-on experience, students will gain a more thorough understanding of the set-up and operation of CNC equipment.

Financial assistance may be available through ACCES-VR, DCC (prev. BETC)/SUNY Erie One Stop, NETC, the US Department of Veterans Affairs or other sources.
A $300 deposit is required to reserve your spot in this class.

  • Tuition does not include steel toe work boots. These are the responsibility of the student to obtain. The approximate cost is $125 and is subject to change.

Admissions Requirements

  • Transcripts. (Proof of a valid high school diploma, GED or college degree from the U.S. is required. HS diplomas with modified curriculum or individualized programs are not accepted.)
    • Applicants who do not meet these requirements must complete an entrance exam. Please contact Rashada Jackson to schedule.
  • A completed Registration Application.
  • A $300 security deposit is required to reserve your spot in this class.
  • A personal interview will be conducted.

Employment Outlook

CNC operators are in high demand throughout the region. Completion of the 200-hour CNC course prepares students for positions in a broad range of industries. CNC operator positions can be found at companies making everything from precision medical instruments to large parts used for mining equipment. Entry-level CNC operators can expect to earn $18 to $20 per hour.

Erie 1 BOCES also provides services such as placement assistance, resume writing and interview skills to help students in their search for a career as a CNC machine operator.
