Our comprehensive program blends in-depth theory with hands-on training in haircuts, haircare, facial hair design and skincare - preparing you for real-world success in the Barbering industry.
Learn in a Professional Barber Shop Environment
Train in our fully equipped Barber Shop setting under the guidance of experienced professionals. With personalized, hands-on instruction, you'll gain the confidence to experiment, grow and get inspired about your future as a Master Barber.
We also offer support with financial aid and job placement, along with real-world client service opportunities to sharpen your skills and build your portfolio.
In as little as 5 Months, You'll Gain Hands-On Experience In:
- Haircutting and texturizing with shears, razors, and clippers
- Styling techniques with a variety of products and tools
- Haircoloring services
- Facial shaving and beard design
- Facial skincare services
Program Overview:
- You will complete 500 hours of the program in class under the instructions and guidance of our experienced teachers.
- You will also complete a 100-hour internship at a local Barber Shop to gain real-world knowledge from experts in the Barbering industry.
What You’ll Receive:
- 600 hours of expert-led instruction from licensed professionals and guest industry speakers. (500 hours in class/100 hours at internship)
- Eligibility to sit for the New York State Barbering Licensure Exam upon program completion.
- The knowledge and skills to begin a fulfilling career helping clients look and feel their best.
Tuition
$9,500
Tuition includes instruction, books and supplies. An additional $50 application fee to NYS Division of Licensing will be required at the time of testing. Financial assistance may be available through Federal Student Aid, ACCES-VR, the US Department of Veterans Affairs or other sources. A Financial Aid Coordinator is on staff to assist you.
A $300 security deposit is required to reserve your spot in this class.
Admissions Requirements
- Transcripts. (Proof of a valid high school diploma, GED or college degree from the U.S. is required. HS diplomas with modified curriculum or individualized programs are not accepted.)
- Applicants who do not meet these requirements must complete an entrance exam. Please contact Rashada Jackson to schedule.
- A completed Registration Application. (see steps to register below)
- A $300 security deposit is required to reserve your spot in this class.
- A personal interview will be conducted.
- Minimum age for enrollment is 18. (Exceptions may apply at the discretion of the Program Coordinator.)

Step 3: Secure funding.
- Financial assistance options are available here.
- Students applying for Financial Aid, including Pell Grants and Direct Student Loans, should begin the FAFSA application process now. Visit http://studentaid.gov and use School Code 012557.
- Funding must be secured BEFORE the start of class. Funding can take up to four weeks to process, please DO NOT WAIT.

Transfer Students
Students who began a Salon and Spa Program at another school may apply to complete their hours through Erie 1 BOCES Workforce Development. Transfer students will be registered for one of our scheduled sessions but are only required to attend the number of terms or hours needed to complete the program.
Students with Licensure
Students that currently have a NYS Appearance Enhancement License (Barbering, Cosmetology, Esthetics, Nail Technician, Natural Hair or Waxing) are eligible to receive credit hours and a tuition discount towards another Salon and Spa program.
Employment Outlook
Individuals with a NYS Master Barber License can work in Barbershops, Salons and more. E1B provides career coaching, resume writing assistance, networking/branding advice and interview preparation support.
